NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages

While your wedding day is definitely all about the two of you and the story of your love, there are a number of legal matters that you should be aware of and comply with - and the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages is there to help you with all the information that you will need.

For example, did you know that your marriage may cancel your will? That for it to be legal, the Registry must register the full details of your marriage within 14 days of your ceremony? Or, that once you decide to marry you are required to give a marriage celebrant at least one month notice (and not more than 18 months notice) of an intended date of marriage?

To ensure that your marriage complies with all the legal requirements, put a visit to the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages at the top of your 'to do' list. The Registry's informative website provides a wealth of information on all the official aspects of your wedding ceremony, as well as links to other relevant sites.

If you would prefer to speak to one of their friendly representatives call 13 77 88 (1300 555 727 if you are hearing or speech impaired), or email them your query, making sure to include your full name, address and a contact number so that they can answer you as promptly and accurately as possible.
